Manufacturing

By Manufacturing we understand any activities that change the properties of physical goods. The Manufacturing Sector used to be a fast growing sector in South Africa. On this site I have established a folder on Manufacturing alone. Here we will deal with all important issues of Manufacturing in South Africa. This will include the companies in the industry, their federations or associations as well as the eductational institutions providing training to those working in the sector. The social and political aspect of those associations and institutions is dealt with in the community section of this website.

Engineering
By Engineering we understand the application of scientific and technical knowledge to design and develop solutions for any improvement of our physical environment. This maybe the the design of any products, machinery, buildings or other artefacts. Engineering is more concerned with the theoretical aspects of goods, while manufacturing is more concerned with the physical production of the goods themselves.
Community

Community on this site deals with the social, political and economical aspects of the manufacturing and engineering sector. This includes educational institutions providing training to artisans and engineers. That includes also the federations, trade unions and other associations of manufacturers, engineers and workers within the industry.

The annual survey rates the ability of economies "to attract and retain investment through the creation of a competitive business environment," using 312 criteria to rank economies in four categories: government efficiency, business efficiency, economic performance, and infrastructure....
